Laurie Moss was born in the early 1900s. She was a descendant of slaves and estate workers. Life was very hard in those days. While commoditites were cheap, people hardly had much money to spend.
They depended on crops, fish from the sea and river, and the goodwill of relatives abroad. Basic necessities like shoes and clothes were hard to come by and children walked barefoot to school.
Times were very hard, but people were decent. respectable and very harsh on poor manners and behavior.
In spite of the hardships, communities were close-knit and the extended family was the mainstay for children and adults. This bond deteriorated in later years as members of families moved out to greener pastures in seek of sustenance and daily bread.
Life With God
Laurie Moss was saved miraculously at age sixteen after the Lord Jesus appeared to her in a vision. She turned away from her existing lifestyle and followed the Lord.
She grew in faith, while encountering very difficult challenges. However, that faith kept her focused on her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.
That dream took a decade to be fulfilled, although she had met the entry requirements. Dreams crushed by miscommunication, she became a wife and mother of five children.
Those years of motherhood were critical and unknowingly prepared her for a career in the nursing profession. When her dream was realized, she scaled the terrain to become a leader in her department. She retired in 1999 in the position of Community Nursing Supervisor of five rural health centers and a rural hospital.
Mrs. Moss continues to serve the Lord in her daily life.
